Launched with a single style of compression socks in 2013, Vim & Vigr has grown to include dozens of styles, three compression levels, four custom fabric blends and over 1,300 retailers worldwide. In 2023, the brand had its best year on record with revenue doubling from 2021. Year-over-year top-line revenue grew by almost 60 percent with the bottom-line exceeding 200 percent growth while maintaining high quality and style.

“10 years ago, I took a leap of faith launching Vim & Vigr by bootstrapping our order for 10,000 pairs of compression socks in our first production run,” said Michelle Huie, founder of Vim & Vigr. “I really felt that there was a market for Vim & Vigr and people were ready for something more than the medical or athletic-look that had become synonymous with compression socks. Luckily the research and my hunch paid off and our first order of 10,000 pairs sold out in three months! One of the best aspects of starting the company has been watching it grow from a side hustle to building an amazing team of passionate, hardworking people that love working together to achieve a common goal. I’m proud of the work we’ve accomplished and the level of education we’ve provided our customers around the benefits of compression taking it from rather dull and medical to vibrantly mainstream.”

From the start, Vim & Vig has combined compression with style to create socks and legwear featuring fashionable designs, happy colors and custom fabric blends. Unisex styles are woven utilizing state-of-the-art machines so they maintain compression levels throughout the day for proven comfort and ease of use. Kahtoola Launches Updated Nanospikes Footwear Traction https://sgbonline.com/pressrelease/kahtoola-launches-updated-nanospikes-footwear-traction/ Fri, 10 Nov 2023 12:35:00 +0000 https://sgbonline.com/?post_type=pressrelease&p=297534 Flagstaff, Ariz. (Nov. 7, 2023) – Kahtoola, creator of award-winning footwear traction and performance-driven gaiters, has undertaken an overhaul of their ultra-low profile footwear traction, Nanospikes. Nanospikes have been a winter safety essential in icy conditions for nearly a decade for everything from training for a marathon to walking the dog, and the newly updated version is now available at retailers nationwide. Unintentional falls are the leading cause of nonfatal emergency room visits across all ages of Americans per the CDC.[1]

Specifically designed for walking and running on slick roads and sidewalks in freezing temperatures, Nanospikes traction delivers high-performance grip on hard, icy surfaces without affecting foot strike. The updated version for fall ‘23 offers improved comfort, fit and traction to stay safely active outside in wintry conditions. Also great for holiday travel, Nanospikes traction packs down small into an included tote pouch and easily slide over a variety of shoes to help travelers avoid dangerous slip and fall accidents while exploring new destinations.

Product updates include an improved fit for a wide variety of shoe styles and sizes from US W 5 to US M 15 plus a larger heel tab for an easy on and off experience. Low profile rivet connections minimize pressure points for improved comfort. Ten concave tungsten carbide spikes per foot provide instant traction on ice and an updated traction plate deflects uneven ice, allowing spikes to engage faster. Unisex sizing.

“We believe design is more than the means to a new product,” said Danny Giovale, founder and owner of Kahtoola. “It’s a practice in intentionality and purpose. Based on the feedback from our community, customers and athletes, we identified an opportunity to make a good thing even better. The redesigned Nanospikes bring a number of thoughtful improvements and they continue to be the proven ultra-low profile traction that runners trust when they need to perform on hard, slippery surfaces, without affecting their gait or foot strike.”

Boulder, CO, September 9, 2020 – Shred Dog, creator of the industry’s most technical youth outdoor apparel, is excited to announce the launch of its new fall/winter apparel collection designed to keep kids comfortably enjoying the outdoors regardless of the weather.

Leading the charge for the new fall styles is the Elevated Kids’ Hardshell, designed for versatile layering and to provide complete weather protection whether in variable mountain conditions or just adventuring in the yard or local park. Rising to a performance level never before seen in kids’ apparel, the Elevated Hardshell is just as waterproof as adult’s high performance shells with features including 20k/20k waterproof/breathability, full seam-taping, waterproof zippers, underarm vents, rubberized wrist gaskets, a helmet-compatible hood, powder skirt and many more details active kids need.

The Element Kids’ Insulator  features a high performance, wind and water resistant fabric with supreme durability, making it the ideal everyday essential, as a standalone puffy jacket on the mountain, layered underneath the hardshell, or zipped directly into the hardshell for an integrated winter jacket on cold days. The Element features 3M™ Thinsulate™ insulation for a thin-but-warm silhouette and is  strategically body-mapped with thicker insulation throughout the core (100 grams) and lighter insulation in the arms (60 grams).

The new Elevated Kids’ Convertible Bib/Pant matches the elite performance of the Elevated Hardshell with 20k/20k waterproof/breathability, full seam-taping, and waterproof zippers. The bib/pant also features inner thigh vents, reinforced knees, hem, and inner ankle, and a removable bib module, giving parents and kids the choice of bibs or pants, depending on style or weather conditions.

All Shred Dog hardshells, insulator jackets, and bib/pants feature the company’s industry-first and proprietary Adjust-a-Fit™ system that lengthens AND shortens sleeves and pant legs for growing kids, hand-me-downs, or just a perfect fit.

Also new for the 2020/2021 line is the soft, warm and durable Essential Mid-Layer Fleece. Designed to retain heat while providing moisture management and evaporation, the Essential features zippered hand pockets and is a year-round must-have for any outdoor adventure.

Completing the layering system for warmth and fun, the Kids’ Foundation Baselayer Top and Bottom are designed for easy layering and added warmth. The super soft, moisture-wicking material keeps kids dry and comfortable, while 4-way stretch fabric allows for full freedom of movement, which every kid needs.

The new collection is available in kids’ sizes 4-16 and with the company’s direct to consumer pricing. The D2C business model allows Shred Dog to use higher quality materials and include features that deliver higher performance yet keep prices more affordable since kids outgrow their gear every year or two.

“We started Shred Dog because we believe in kids staying outdoors, making memories with their families, regardless of the weather, and we were tired of paying top-dollar for premium brands that lacked the performance our kids needed,” said Marc Dietz, co-founder of Shred Dog. “Our first line changed the game and the stories we’ve heard from parents having entirely new and better experiences with their kids, have been incredibly humbling and validating. With the new Elevated collection, we are proud to say we’ve raised the bar again.”

The next round of grant applications will be reviewed in September and nonprofits are encouraged to apply by September 1, 2020 at Kahtoola.com.

“Kahtoola’s mission involves making a difference in people’s lives, empowering and supporting the good work of others and positive, inclusive characteristics that reflect the good in all of us,” said Danny Giovale, founder of Kahtoola. “Every year since 1999, we have been proud to grant a percentage of our annual sales to fund projects that support indigenous cultures, investing in community improvements, healthcare, education, resources and the environment. We are thankful for the opportunity to continue supporting the important work of our grant recipients, especially given the current global health crisis.”

The first $10,000 grant of 2020 was awarded to Esperanca to assist with projects that improve nutrition and food security within the rural Peruvian communities of the Q’eros Nation in the Province of Paucartambo. Esperanca will focus their grant funds on this region of the Andes to connect with 128 indigenous families in six villages. Flagstaff, AZ, May 14, 2020 Kahtoola, creator of award-winning MICROspikes® and NANOspikes® footwear traction, is proud to announce the conclusion of its virtual run which raised $25,000 to benefit the Havasupai Tribe’s COVID-19 relief fund. 258 participants from 23 states, along with 624 donors, helped Kahtoola surpass its original fundraising goal of $10,000.

The virtual event concluded on May 10, 2020 and was designed to encourage people to get active during the Coronavirus pandemic while also supporting a great cause. Runners, joggers and walkers completed either a 5k or 8-mile race. Top winners in each category (fastest individual, slowest individual, fastest family, most elevation gain, top fundraiser and best costume) won awards that also support local Flagstaff businesses.

“On behalf of Kahtoola, I’d like to give a sincere thanks to everyone who joined us for our virtual run,” said Danny Giovale, founder of Kahtoola. “We started with an ambitious fundraising goal and for our community of racers to more than double that is mind blowing!”

Located in a remote region at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, the Havasupai Tribe is particularly vulnerable during the Coronavirus pandemic. The tribe’s COVID-19 relief fund was started to ensure that tribal members would be able to secure access to healthcare supplies and essentials while the tribe’s normally busy tourism business is suspended in an effort to prevent COVID-19 from reaching the remote community.

Following Kahtoola’s virtual run, Carletta Tilousi, Havasupai Tribal Council Member, shared a heartfelt statement with participants and donors: “On behalf of the Havasupai tribal community, we are very grateful for all the support we are receiving during this difficult time. We are humbled and thankful for everyone’s support during this pandemic. The Havasupai elders are very thankful for all the help we are receiving through your fundraising efforts. We feel encouraged to keep our community safe from this pandemic. Thank you to everyone for thinking of the Havasupai people. We will continue to pray for all mankind and our Mother Earth to heal and remain safe. To date, we do not have a positive case in Supai Village. We are working hard to protect our families, animals, and all tribal members across the country. The tribe has been utilizing our own resources to order much needed supplies. With your help, we will continue to supply tribal members who may need help and supplies to remain sheltered in our canyon home. Everyone be safe and our prayers are with all of you and your families. We will all get through this together.”

Kahtoola Awarded Sustainable Business Certification By The Sustainability Alliance https://sgbonline.com/pressrelease/kahtoola-awarded-sustainable-business-certification-by-the-sustainability-alliance/ Wed, 06 May 2020 21:33:27 +0000 https://sgbonline.com/?post_type=pressrelease&p=187872

Flagstaff, AZ, May 6, 2020 – Kahtoola, creator of award-winning MICROspikes® and NANOspikes® footwear traction, is proud to announce its certification as an Innovator/Silver Level business from the Sustainability Alliance. Certification within Arizona is based on the Sustainability Alliance’s four scientific principles of a sustainable society including a reduction of non-renewable energy and materials, a reduction of pollution/waste, and a commitment to protect ecosystems while meeting human needs.

Kahtoola’s environmental commitment began with the company’s founding in 1999 and the subsequent launch of a grant program that provides 1% of annual sales to support indigenous cultures and fund projects that improve communities, healthcare, education, resources and the environment.

Over the past two decades, Kahtoola has also implemented projects locally to reduce their environmental impact at the company’s Flagstaff headquarters. Projects have included a building remodel to add windows and skylights that maximize natural light and reduce energy consumption. The addition of solar panels supplies 100 percent of the company’s daily energy requirements. A new basement warehouse ventilation system efficiently maintains clean air and proper heating throughout the building. And to reduce emissions, Kahtoola tracks Scope 1 and 2 emissions from fuels they burn and electricity used and is working to calculate Scope 3 emissions in the immediate future which includes employee commuting, air travel, shipping emissions and beyond.

On the production side, Kahtoola relies exclusively on ocean freight to reduce emissions on products manufactured overseas. A redesign of pallets and warehouse racks has increased the number of units per pallet. “With these changes and some planning adjustments we were able to decrease our shipping volume by 36 percent,” said Kelly Slutz, Shipping Associate for Kahtoola. “We can now get more units per shipment, but overall receive less shipments.”

The majority of greenhouse gas emissions from ground packages sent from Kahtoola’s warehouse are offset with carbon neutral shipments through UPS that are paid by Kahtoola. An onsite repair shop allows customers to easily return products for repair to extend their lifecycle. Any non-repairable parts are disassembled and recycled through a local metal recycler with plastic pieces sent to TerraCycle. Kahtoola also minimizes design process waste by creating 3-D printer prototypes in house to eliminate the frequency of shipping prototypes to outside vendors and implements recyclable packaging, natural and 100 percent recycled materials for their marketing giveaways in addition to reusable signage at events. “Whenever we go to trade shows, we always commit to zero single-use plastic,” added Slutz.

As the company continues to grow, it has implemented protocols for measuring environmental impacts while encouraging employees to lead the charge. “We are expected to hold ourselves accountable for our  contributions to the company, and build support from others where coordination is needed to put ideas into action,” said Betsy Harter, Customer Service Associate for Kahtoola. “Called the Associate Model, it supports associate empowerment and initiative. This model has allowed Kelly and I to create our roles as sustainability project leaders within the company.”

Aprch Wellness Beverages Introduces Inaugural Ambassador Mark Carter https://sgbonline.com/pressrelease/aprch-wellness-beverages-introduces-inaugural-ambassador-mark-carter/ Thu, 30 Apr 2020 23:54:36 +0000 https://sgbonline.com/?post_type=pressrelease&p=187251

Portland, OR, April 30, 2020— Aprch, a new wellness beverage company inspired by adventure, integrity, health and the environment, introduces their first ambassador/partner, Mark Carter, a pro snowboarder and born-and-raised rancher from Wyoming.

“Our ambassador program brings like-minded individuals who can benefit from our products and help raise Aprch’s awareness by sharing personal anecdotes with their networks,” said Brett Wiley, Chief Marketing Officer at Aprch. “The ambassador program will help bring our mission of a life well-lived to the forefront of our brand messaging.”

One of the ways Aprch will introduce their ambassadors is through their new video series, The Human Element, celebrating the shared human experience while focusing on the lifestyles of those who embody self-expression and achieving their potential.

The first video focuses on Mark’s off-season life, visualizing how this rancher/athlete unwinds, slowing down, connecting with what’s important and recharging. Nutrition, well-being, family, and environment are all keys to Carter’s success and are seen in the video.

“I’ve had an interesting life, and through all the experiences, I’ve learned we need to seek and promote good things, especially today,” said Carter. “I strive to be a positive example for kids every day, and although it can sometimes feel impossible, we all need to slow down and connect with where we are, who we are with, and most importantly who we are as individuals. Aprch is a key element in my daily quest to reconnect in a calming, holistic way regardless of life’s challenges.  Prioritizing wellness is part of Aprch’s mission and my life.”

Carter’s life philosophy of staying true to his roots and building community along the way aligns naturally with Aprch’s, and the video allows us a glimpse into the understated life of a professional athlete and entrepreneur. The Aprch Human Element video with Mark Carter is live on Aprch’s website, as well as Facebook, and Vimeo.
